Inspiration Behind Home Again

Home Again is a song of hope, longing, and the promise of reunion at Christ’s return. Inspired by 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14, it speaks to the deep sorrow of loss but also to the unshakable assurance that death is not the end for those who are in Christ.

“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 4:14)

This song captures the grief of separation but shines with the radiant hope of the resurrection—a day when all who have died in Christ will rise, and we will be reunited with our loved ones in His presence forever. It is a song for every heart that has mourned, every soul that has wept, and every believer who clings to the promise that Jesus is coming again.

The lyrics reflect the joy of that day, when sorrow will be erased, tears will be no more, and we will finally embrace those we have lost—never to be parted again. Until then, we hold on to faith, knowing that in Christ, goodbye is never the end—it’s just ‘see you soon.’

Lyrics

The chair is empty, the room is still,
A quiet ache I cannot fill.
I trace the memories, hold them tight,
Through every tear, I find Your light.

You whisper hope in the darkest night,
A promise shining through my cries.

I will see you once again,
Where sorrow fades and life begins.
No more tears, no more goodbyes,
Only love that never dies.
Because of Jesus, because of grace,
We’ll embrace in that holy place—
We are not lost, just waiting there,
Someday, we’ll be home again.

The hands I held, now out of sight,
Yet faith reminds me: this is not goodbye.
Through every shadow, through every storm,
The cross has made a way beyond.

Graves will open, the trump will sound,
Every knee will bow down.
The ones we love, the ones we miss,
Will rise to life in endless bliss!

I will see you once again,
Where sorrow fades and life begins.
No more tears, no more goodbyes,
Only love that never dies.
Because of Jesus, because of grace,
We’ll embrace in that holy place—
We are not lost, just waiting there,
Someday, we’ll be home again.

So I will wait, I will believe,
Your love is stronger than the grave’s defeat.
Until that day, I’ll hold this light,
For in His arms, we reunite.
