Inspiration Behind You Make a Way
Inspired by Isaiah 43:16,19—“Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea and a path through the mighty waters… Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”—You Make a Way is a song of faith and trust in God’s provision, even when the path forward seems impossible.
Life often presents us with closed doors, impossible mountains, and overwhelming circumstances, but this song is a reminder that God is always at work, making a way where there seems to be none. Just as He parted the Red Sea for Israel (Exodus 14:21), just as He provided manna in the wilderness (Exodus 16:4), He continues to provide, guide, and make a way for His people today.
You Make a Way is a song of surrender and trust, a declaration that God is faithful, that He leads us through valleys, over mountains, and into His promises—not by our strength, but by His power. It’s a song of hope, perseverance, and unwavering faith in the God who never fails to lead us forward.
Lyrics
The road ahead is rough and steep,
The waters rise, the valley’s deep.
But through it all, I hear You say,
“My child, I will make a way.”
When the night is long and hope seems lost,
I lift my eyes and see the cross.
You make a way where there is none,
You part the seas, You break the dawn.
Mountains move and chains must fall,
You are faithful through it all.
The storm may rage, the skies turn gray,
But I will trust, I will not stray.
Your promises, they light my path,
You hold my future, You hold my past.
Through every trial, through every fight,
Your love surrounds me, Your grace is light.
I will not fear, I will not stray,
For You, my God, You make a way.
You make a way where there is none,
You part the seas, You break the dawn.
Mountains move and chains must fall,
You are faithful through it all.
Where there is darkness, You bring light,
You lead me on through day and night.
In every step, in every day,
You, my God, will make a way.
